What to Wear When Running.

Running at the best of times requires high levels of effort, therefore there is no worse feeling that when you discover you are unprepared or your equipment has failed you. It can stop you from running as a whole. Kitting yourself out correctly will therefore mean you can relax and enjoy the roads and trails for what they really are. Of course, owning the correct pair of running shoes for yourself comes at the top of the list as a runner. However, all of the accessories and clothing items can make that jump in performance that you might be looking for.

Throughout the Summer Months, you will be looking to wear items of clothing which are super breathable. All of our stock is Sweat - Wicking and Temperature controlling meaning it can warm you up but also cool you down. These months require Shorts and a T - Shirt or Tank Top quite simply.

Throughout the Colder and Wetter Winter Months, Layers will become your Best Friend. Starting with Leggings, a Long Sleeved Top or Base Layer and depending on the Rain a Water Repellent Jacket. As temperatures continue to drop, you may want to invest in some gloves, snoods or fleeced wear. Tying in with these darker runs, safety is important. So it might be worthwhile to ensure that these layers are as reflective as possible or you have considered using LED Lighting. E.g. Wristbands, Vests, Clips or Headtorches.

As much as you may think socks are not a priority, they can make such a difference in terms of comfort when running. In contrast to a general cotton based sock they are a lot softer. They contain no cotton which is great because when cotton gets wet it dries and goes hard. The hard material aggravates the foot causing blisters. The vast variety of sock brands we stock have a variety of different styles. Some thicker, some thinner, some more contoured and others with dual layering. It is personal preference in terms of whether you prefer a trainer liner or something covering up more of the ankle.

For the Longer Distances - Nutrition and Accessories become more relevant. E.g. Carrying Energy Gels and Water. This can be a case of weighing up what works best for you, whether this is a Bum Bag, a Rucksack or an Arm Strap. There is such thing as a Hydration Pack where Water can be carried om the back with a straw attached, however others prefer to use a Water Bottle.

Technology plays such a huge role in the world that we live in today, therefore it comes of no shock that it can play a huge role in running performance too. First Being - Watches. Owning a good running watch can be what takes your running to a new level. The Lead Brand being Garmin - Stock a huge range of fitness watches with continuous features to improve your running game. E.g. GPS, Time, Distance, Heart Rate, Calories, Smart Phone Notifications and the list goes on. It is worthwhile doing your research before purchasing these products because the capability of some devices is crazy and in some cases it can be unnecessary. Last but most definitely not least, Headphones. Music is often a saviour to runners, distracting the brain or providing motivation. Therefore it may be worth purchasing a pair of Aftershokz headphones which are leading the way in the world of running at the moment due to their bone conducting properties which allows runners to listen to music but also listen to their surroundings - danger.
